Terms and Conditions
1. Scope of Services
The practitioner provides mental health assessment, counselling, psychotherapy, psychoeducation, and related services within their professional qualifications. Services are not a substitute for emergency medical or psychiatric care.
2. Appointments
- Sessions are by appointment only.
- Clients are expected to arrive on time.
- Late arrival may result in a shortened session while the full session fee may still apply.
3. Fees and Payment
- Fees are communicated before services begin.
- Payment is due at the time of the appointment unless otherwise agreed.
4. Cancellation and Rescheduling
- Clients should provide at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule.
- Missed appointments or late cancellations may incur a cancellation fee.
5. Confidentiality
- Information shared during therapy is kept confidential.
- Confidentiality may be limited where disclosure is required by law or where there is a serious risk of harm to the client or others.
- The practitioner will explain these limits during the initial session.
6. Client Responsibilities
Clients agree to:
- Provide accurate and relevant information.
- Participate actively in the therapeutic process.
- Inform the practitioner of any changes in contact information or significant health concerns.
7. Emergency Situations
- The practitioner may not provide 24/7 crisis support.
- In emergencies, clients should contact local emergency services or visit the nearest emergency department.
8. Online Sessions
For teletherapy:
- Clients are responsible for ensuring a private and secure environment.
- Technical issues may require sessions to be rescheduled.
- The practitioner will use reasonable measures to protect confidentiality during online sessions.
9. Communication
- Routine communication may occur by phone, email, or secure messaging.
- These channels should not be used for emergencies.
- Response times may vary during weekends, holidays, or outside business hours.
10. Professional Boundaries
The therapeutic relationship is professional in nature. Personal, financial, or social relationships outside therapy are generally avoided to maintain ethical boundaries.
11. Termination of Services
Either the client or the practitioner may end therapy. Where appropriate, the practitioner will discuss the reasons for ending treatment and may provide referrals to other professionals.
12. Consent
By engaging in services, the client confirms that they:
- Have read and understood these Terms and Conditions.
- Have had the opportunity to ask questions.
- Consent to receiving mental health services under these terms.
13. Changes to Terms
The practitioner may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Clients will be informed of any significant changes before they take effect.
